Biking

The Washington and Old Dominion (W&OD) trail end in Purcellville is 7.6 miles from Stone Gables or a trailhead in Leesburg that is even closer. This trail is enjoyed by bikers and hikers alike.  The W&OD trail is 45 miles in length and begins in Arlington.

Horseback Riding

Hiking

If hiking is on your agenda, Stone Gables Bed & Breakfast is close to several trails and parks to include Franklin Park offering majestic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Blackburn Trail, Snickers Gap, as well as the Appalachian Trail.  Here are some links below: 

Red Rock Wilderness Park:  Red Rock Wilderness Overlook Regional Park is a 2.7 kilometer (1.7 miles) moderately trafficked loop trail located near Leesburg that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and trail running and is accessible year-round.

Ball's Bluff Orange Trail Loop:  Ball’s Bluff Orange Train Loop is a 3.4 kilometer  (2.3 miles)  loop trail located near Leesburg that features a great forest setting. The trail is rated as moderate and primarily used for hiking, walking, and trail running.

Morven Park Trail:  Morven Park is a 3.5 kilometer  (2.2 miles)  lightly trafficked loop trail located near Leesburg. The trail is good for all skill levels and primarily used for walking. 

Goose Creek Trail:  Goose Creek Trail is a 4.7 kilometer (2.9 miles) lightly trafficked loop trail located near Leesburg that features a river. The trail is good for all skill levels and primarily used for hiking, walking, trail running, and nature trips. 

Ravens Rock:  Raven Rocks via the Appalachian Trail is a 8.9 kilometer (5.8 miles) moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Bluemont, Virginia that features a river and is rated as difficult. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round.

Virginia Wineries

There are over forty wineries within the county, five or six within a few minutes drive.
